What's the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?

Stump grinding uses a machine to chew the stump down 6–12 inches below grade so you can plant grass, lay sod, or install landscaping over it. Full stump removal digs out the entire root ball — it's more invasive, costs more, and is usually only needed if you're building on the spot. For 95% of homeowners, grinding is the right call.

Do you haul away the wood chips and debris?

Yes. Haul-away is included in every quote unless you want to keep the mulch or firewood — many customers do. If you want the wood chips left in a pile for landscaping, just say the word and we'll knock it off the price.

Are you licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Utah Tree and Stump Removal is fully licensed and carries general liability plus workers' comp insurance. We're happy to send you a certificate of insurance (COI) before the job starts.

Do I need to be home during the job?

Not for most jobs. As long as we can access the tree or stump and we've agreed on the scope and price, you don't need to be there. We'll send before and after photos and collect payment when the work is done.
