Utah law requires a Blue Stakes of Utah (811) locate before grinding. We schedule it at no cost to you and wait the required 48 business hours. That protects your gas, power, water and fiber lines — and it protects you from the repair bill.
What Happens to the Wood Chips?
Grinding produces a mound of chips and soil. We haul it away as part of the quote, or leave it as mulch for beds and pathways and reduce the price. If you want the hole topped with soil so you can seed, tell us and we'll level it.
How Our Stump Grinding Process Works
Text a photo of your stump (a shoe or tape measure in the shot for scale is perfect) and we'll usually send back a firm price within a couple of hours. We schedule the 811 locate, arrive with the right size grinder, take the stump 6–12" below grade, grind surface roots if requested, then rake, backfill and blow the area clean. Most stump grinding jobs in Salt Lake County can be scheduled within 3–7 days.
